STATION.--14306500 ALSEA RIVER NEAR TIDEWATER, OR
LOCATION.--Lat 44°23'10", long 123°49'50", in NW 1/4 NW 1/4 sec.6, T.14 S., R.9 W.,
Lincoln County, Hydrologic Unit 17100205, on right bank 0.9 mi downstream from
Grass Creek, 2.5 mi upstream from Scott Creek, 3.8 mi southeast of Tidewater, and
at mile 21.0.[location map]
DRAINAGE AREA.--334 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1939 to current year.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 48.16 ft above sea level. Prior to
Nov. 16, 1939, nonrecording gage at present site and datum.
REMARKS.--Records provisional. No regulation. Diversion for irrigation upstream from station.
Continuous water-quality records for the period October 1979 to September 1981 have been
collected at this location.
AVERAGE DISCHARGE.--61 years (water years 1940-2000), 1,490 ft3/s, 60.62 in/yr,
1,080,000 acre-ft/yr.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 41,800 ft3/s Dec. 22, 1964, gage height,
27.44 ft; minimum discharge, 45 ft3/s Sept. 26, 27, 1965.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--Flood on or about Feb. 3, 1890, reached a stage of
29.5 ft, from floodmark (discharge not determined).
